Douglass Township has completed their Tennis and Pickleball Court construction Project at Douglass Park. This project transformed two existing tennis courts into one tennis court and two pickleball courts. This upgrade caters to the growing popularity of pickleball while maintaining a tennis court for those who enjoy tennis, pickleball, or both. The renovation enhances not only the recreational options available but also the accessibility and inclusivity of the area.
In addition to the court renovations, the project has introduced important accessibility features. A new ADA-compliant access route to the courts ensures that individuals with mobility challenges can easily reach the facilities. The project also added an ADA-accessible picnic area near the courts, creating an environment where everyone can enjoy Douglass Park with friends and family.
This project would not have been possible without the support of multiple funding sources. The funding sources include the MontCo 2040 Implementation Program ($80,889), the Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Planning Committee ($25,000) a generous private donation of $30,000, and the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation ($20,000). Douglass Township contributed $19,000 to the project.
This renovation represents a significant improvement in the community's recreational facilities and an expansion of inclusive recreational opportunities in the PARRC region.
