New Funding for PARRC Projects

Since the beginning of 2024, the communities of PARRC have received a total of $349,400 in grant funding for a variety of park and recreation projects.

The Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Planning Commission Minigrant Program awarded a total of $173,400 for seven projects: Pottstown Borough's Manatawny Green Miniature Golf Greens Replacement, Douglass Township's Douglass Park Tennis Court/Pickleball Court Redevelopment, West Pottsgrove's Veteran’s Park Basketball Court Resurfacing, East Coventry's Parkerford Riverfront Park Master Plan and Engineering, Lower Pottsgrove's Ringing Rocks Park Paving and Signage, North Coventry's Riverside Park Boat Ramp and Adaptive Kayak Launch, and Upper Pottsgrove's Hollenbach Park Engineering Project.

The Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation awarded three grants to further park and recreation projects in the PARRC region. Washington Township received $20,000 for the Barto Community Park Master Plan Project, Douglass Township was awarded $20,000 for the Douglass Park Tennis Court/Pickleball Court Redevelopment Project and PARRC received $30,000 for the Nature Based Placemaking Project.

Other funding awarded in the PARRC region included a $10,000 grant to West Pottsgrove from the Schuylkill Highlands Minigrant Program for the Murgia Park Interpretive Signage Project. East Coventry was awarded $11,000 from Chester County's Preservation Partnership Program for the East Coventry Nature Preserve Environmental Restoration Project and a $25,000 planning grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission was awarded to East Coventry for restoration of the Ellis Hoffman House at Frick's Lock Village. Additionally, a private donation of $60,000 was made to the PARRC Foundation for multiple park projects across the region.

The new funding gives PARRC municipalities the opportunity to continue to revitalize, improve and expand its recreational resources, and we are excited to provide updates as the new projects are implemented. PARRC thanks all the funders mentioned above for their continued support of park and recreation projects in the Pottstown area.
