North Coventry Expands Universal River Access

North Coventry Township’s Riverside Park has recently unveiled an exciting new addition: an adaptive kayak, canoe, and boat launch, designed for more accessibility to the Schuylkill River. This significant upgrade was constructed by BoardSafe contractors and is attached to the floating dock built in 2023.

Generously supported by a $25,000 grant from the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, the new kayak launch offers a safe and inclusive way for adaptive paddlers and individuals using mobility devices to enjoy the beauty of the Schuylkill River. The design of the launch reflects best practices in dock and marina engineering, with input from adaptive athletes to ensure it meets the needs of all users.

This new facility is part of a broader initiative to enhance river access facilities within the park. As part of this ongoing project, the Township is actively working on acquiring additional funds to reconstruct the existing concrete boat ramp, further improving accessibility and enjoyment for all visitors. These upgrades continue to improve river access, promote inclusivity and expand recreational opportunities at Riverside Park.
