Over $500,000 Awarded to PARRC Communities

PARRC is pleased to announce that two of its members, Douglass Township and West Pottsgrove Township, were recently awarded MontCo 2040 Implementation grants totaling over $119,000 for park improvements. In Douglass, funds will be used to resurface the tennis court and create two pickleball courts. In West Pottsgrove, funds will be used to improve drainage and ADA access at Old Timer's Field. Grant funds totaling $203,000 awarded to East Coventry Township through Chester County's Preservation Partnership Program will be used to redevelop Tow Path Park. Upper Pottsgrove was awarded $5,000 from the PECO Green Region Program for a tree project (see photo below) and East Coventry was awarded over $7,000 from PECO. Funding provided by DCNR to the Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Planning Commission's Mini-grant Program was awarded to the following PARRC communities:

  • West Pottsgrove-$25,000-Old Timer's Field Improvements

  • Lower Pottsgrove-$22,500-Sanatoga Park Pavilion Development

  • Pottstown Borough-$25,000-Spruce Street Park Improvements

  • Douglass Township-$25,000-Douglass Park Playground Improvements

  • Upper Pottsgrove Township-$25,000-Schwenk Road Trailhead Development

  • East Coventry Township-$25,000-Ellis Woods Park Pedestrian Bridge Engineering

Finally, the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation awarded grants to PARRC communities in its spring round as follows:

  • West Pottsgrove-$15,000-Pool Property Master Plan

  • Lower Pottsgrove-$12,000-Sanatoga Playground Improvements

  • North Coventry Township-$15,000-Coventry Woods Chestnut Hill Access Improvements

  • Upper Pottsgrove Township-$32,000-Sprogels Run Trail Improvements

  • East Coventry Township-$35,000-Parker Ford Riverside Park Engineering

  • Pottstown Area Regional Recreation Committee-$6,000-Interactive Map & Storymap Project
