PA Trails Month: Upper Pottsgrove Trail Resurfacing Increases Accessibility to the Outdoors

Just in time for PA Trails Month, a resurfacing project on the Sprogels Run Trail in Upper Pottsgrove is complete. The resurfaced portion of the trail runs along Snyder Road within Althouse Arboretum, a popular nature preserve for walking, hiking and environmental education. The paved trail will expand ADA accessibility within the Arboretum, opening doors for visitors who may not have been able to enjoy the area before. The project also includes adding ADA accessible parking spaces at the Arboretum parking area, which will connect to the paved section of the trail for easy access.

This project was paid for with a $23,000 private donation, a $32,000 grant from the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation and township funds. See pictures of the repaving process as well as the finished project below, and be sure to check it out for yourself! The Arboretum is located at 1794 Gilbertsville Road in Pottstown and features a total of 1.5 miles of trail that connect to neighboring trails and parks in the Upper Pottsgrove area.
