PARRC Communities Receive Three DCNR Grants

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has announced the recipients of this year’s Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2) grants, with three PARRC members receiving funding to enhance their parks and recreational spaces. These grants will fund planning and vital improvement projects, making these spaces more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Pottstown Borough has been awarded $165,300 for the redevelopment of Brookside

Park located in the Borough's north end. The funding will support efforts to revitalize the park, including new play equipment, an ADA accessible pathway, a Bankshot basketball system and site amenities. These upgrades will provide more opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Washington Township (Berks County) was awarded $26,000 for the development of a master plan for Barto Community Park. The grant will assist in planning future park improvements, ensuring the park meets the evolving needs of residents and enhancing the space for long-term use.

Upper Pottsgrove Township was awarded $61,700 for the Hollenbach Park Improvements Project, primarily for the development of an ADA-accessible crushed stone loop trail. This addition will make the park more accessible to individuals with mobility challenges, expanding recreation opportunities in the park.

PARRC thanks DCNR for this grant funding, which are part of the DCNR’s commitment to supporting local conservation and recreation efforts.
