With so much going on in the PARRC region over the month of October, we wanted to put all the highlights in one place. So even if you missed an event, you can read up here and stay in the spooky-loop.
Upper Pottsgrove
Althouse Arboretum
Upper Pottsgrove's Althouse Arboretum hosted some spectacular fall-themed events this October. They began the month with a build-your-own scarecrow workshop, and ended with a spooky Haunted Woods event, and a not-so-spooky Family Night Hike through the Enchanted Forest. So whether you were looking for a big scare, or a magical adventure, Althouse Arboretum had you covered this season.
East Coventry
Fall Festival at Frick's Lock Village
East Coventry Township rang in the season with their annual Fall Festival at Frick's Lock Village. The festival was a perfect mix of history and Halloween. Tours of the historic Fricks Lock Village ran throughout the festival and included a trick-or-treat at each stop. Costumes were highly encouraged. The event also featured live music, refreshments, face painting and pumpkin decorating.
Pottstown Borough
Pottstown had no lack of festive, Halloween activities this October! Many organizations and businesses had Halloween-y makeovers that brought a lot of fun to Pottstown residents and visitors.
Manatawny Green Spooky Golf
Manatawny Green hosted a spooky minigolf course. Players could choose to play before dark, or after, when all the magic of the haunted course came alive. Equipped with ghouls, goblins and dazzling lights, Manatawny Green's Spooky Golf was not an event to be missed.
Halloween Parade
News of an up-in-the-air Halloween parade had Pottstown Residents on the edges of their seats this year. Luckily, with the help of some tremendous donations, the show could still go on! The community came together with short notice to put on a wonderful parade. To see some great pictures of the parade, check out this article in Travels with the Post.
Carousel's Spooky Bash
Carousel at Pottstown's Final Friday events are always a blast, and that is especially true of their Final Friday Halloween Bash. Visitors came in costumes to ride the carousel, visit local vendors, paint pumpkins, and even take photos with costumed baby goats!
Pottstown FARM's History and Haunts of Pottstown
Pottstown FARM hosted a spooky fundraiser that twisted local history and frightening tales into one fun event. The fundraiser consisted of a one-hour guided walking tour through Pottstown, highlighting local points of interest and historically haunted sites. The tour ended with a "toast with ghosts" and some small bites at the Elks Club. Funds raised from the purchase of tickets for this event supported FARM's mission to "provide access to fresh, locally grown, agricultural products and handmade artisan goods to the Pottstown Region" and those who are underserved in the region through a variety of programs and incentives.
Hobart's Run by the River
Hobart's Run hosted a fundraiser 5k event to raise funds for various projects within the Hobart's Run community. The race took place in Riverfront Park with 62 runners of all different ages and
abilities, and many donning a Halloween costume. The first-place runner finished in about 19 minutes wearing a full Jedi costume, lightsaber included.
