South Street Park, located at 447 South Street, Pottstown, is undergoing significant redevelopment aimed at improving safety, accessibility, and recreation opportunities for local residents. The project includes the installation of new playground equipment designed to better support safe movement and inclusive play for children of all abilities. These upgrades will make the park a more welcoming and functional space for families and community members.

The redevelopment project is being funded through a combination of local, state, and private contributions. The Borough of Pottstown received a $85,200 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) through its Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2). Additional support includes $65,170 from the Commonwealth Finance Authority’s Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program (GTRP), $14,400 from Pottstown Parks and Recreation, and a $60,000 match from the Pottstown Parks Capital Fund. The project is also supported by $10,000 in private funding and an $8,000 contribution from the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation.
Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2025. Once finished, South Street Park will offer an improved outdoor space that supports healthy activity, community gathering, and recreational use for all ages.
